It’s Time to Write Your Own Success Story: Why Generic Diets Don’t Work and What Does
There are tonnes of meal plans and “get fit” programs out there that lay it all out for you. A “recipe for success” or a “weight-loss playbook”. They seem like they have all the answers and the results seem guaranteed. It'‘s hard to deny their logical sales pitch and yes, if we were house plants, it would work… so why doesn’t it? Why isn’t everyone achieving their amazing results?
These programmes aren’t designed for YOU. They are designed for someone in your age bracket, gender and vaguely in your weight range.
They know nothing about your schedule, food preferences, family responsibilities, mental health or level of commitment.
Sure I have recipes I recommend to my clients and I could program them a workout schedule to achieve fat-loss but I don’t. Why I hear you ask? Because that’s MY way of achieving YOUR health goals, a bit like when your Mum chimes in on how to parent YOUR kids…. (yeah no thanks.)
I will HELP you find solutions to achieve your goals. The key is they have to be YOUR solutions that fit into YOUR life, YOUR commitment and time available. Engaging a nutrition coach to achieve your health goals isn’t like hiring a cleaner to clean your house, it’s not a problem you can throw money at and forget (Sorry, but I know, how good would that be to pay someone else to workout & drink kale smoothies for you!)
I believe in educating you on how to fuel and move your body for sustainable results BUT the actual details of what meals & movement you choose are up to you. You need to research recipes to suit your tastebuds and find what types of movement you like. I know it sounds like I’m making you do MY job but it truly is more effective if the solutions come from you. You are more likely to commit to a goal if it feels like its yours, it fits you. If you’re not going to commit to jogging 5km 4 days a week then what would be the point in a trainer suggesting it? (FYI I would never suggest it).
I am here to guide you every step of the way, adjusting, changing or even totally scrapping ideas that don’t work for you. Usually I’m slowing my clients down so they don’t start overloading themselves with too much change at once, not pushing them harder. With this approach after our coaching time is over you are left with the tools for great health and strategies we’ve tried and tested together that fit you and they work. I leave you with the understanding and knowhow to kick your own butt, get your self back on the horse and set and achieve new goals should you want them. Instead of leaving you with nothing unless you keep paying. See the diff?
If your trainer or coach chucks you on the scales then dives straight into calorie restrictions or bootcamp style training without diving deep into getting to know your lifestyle, work/family commitments, eating habits, food knowledge, cooking ability, mental health etc… then maybe check what else is out there!
