Why do I love Pilates?

I love physical activity and giving new things a go, and I encourage you to test and try till you find something you love. Engaging in enjoyable activity is the best way to get all the benefits of physical activity: Keeping your cardiovascular system, strengthening your muscles to avoid falls and injury, getting a good ol’ dose of dopamine to relieve stress. However, diving head first into a new intense style of exercise could have you headed straight for pain and injury.

That’s why I choose Pilates. It’s functional and is the perfect foundation for the strength, range of movement and coordination needed for any activity you want to do in your life at any age. Learning how to engage the correct supportive muscles and building strength in these muscles helps prevent injury, falls, stiffness and weakness.

For exercise to make an impact to your health you HAVE TO ENJOY IT. If it causes or increases your stress 2 things will happen:

  1. You’ll stop showing up consistently and maybe quit completely.

  2. Increased stress hormones cause your body to store more belly fat and upset your sleep, energy levels and increasing your desire to snack.

I am ANYTHING but serious and my on-demand online Pilates platform definitely reflects that too. I record my real workouts that fit in and around my life and family. Sometimes my kiddos are there, I often lose count, get a foot cramp and end up giggling. I hope these workouts are enjoyable, easy to follow and see you making progress without pushing yourself to breaking point or leave you feeling deflated. 

Each exercise has a progression if you need more of a challenge but more importantly there’s also a modification to help you participate regardless of your level of strength or experience.

My workouts range from 10 minutes to 50 minutes, some full body and upper or lower body. All the sessions include technique advice and Pilates breathing techniques to help you move correctly and protect your back from injury.

I run weekly Pilates classes in Panton Hill. All abilities welcome, there’s even classes where you can bring your kiddos :) I’d love to see you there!

Private Pilates

I offer a small number of 1:1 in home sessions per week to local clients. If you’re looking for a private Pilates session let’s chat about how I can accommodate you and your specific needs.

Ideal for those starting their Pilates or fitness journey and may need a little more support than a group class can provide OR sports professionals looking for a tailored experience to work in with other training.
