The Health Triangle Nobody Wants to Hear About

Social media has convinced people that health should be:

  • Fast

  • Easy

  • Extreme

But real health doesn’t work like that.

There’s a principle used in business and design that says you can usually only choose 2 out of 3:

  • Good

  • Fast

  • Cheap

Something always gives.

Health works the same way.

You can absolutely improve your health, lose fat, gain energy, sleep better, get stronger, improve your blood tests, reduce inflammation and feel more confident in your body…

But you usually only get two sides of the triangle at once.

The Real Health Triangle

Imagine the triangle looked more like this:

Sustainable

Fast

Easy

You only get two.

If it’s:

Fast + Easy

…it usually isn’t sustainable.

This is where fad diets live.

Detox teas.
28-day shreds.
“Drop 10kg fast” programs.
Extreme calorie cuts.
Overtraining.
Rules you can only follow while your life is perfectly organised.

These approaches often do create quick results initially. That’s why they’re so popular.

But the problem is what happens after.

Most people can white-knuckle almost anything for a few weeks.
Very few can sustain misery forever.

Eventually:

  • motivation drops

  • hunger increases

  • life gets busy again

  • old habits return

  • the weight comes back

Usually with a side serving of guilt and feeling like they “failed”.

They didn’t fail.
The method was never built for real life.

Sustainable + Easy

…it usually isn’t fast.

This is the boring middle ground nobody brags about online — but it’s where real health lives.

This looks like:

  • walking more consistently

  • eating more protein and fibre

  • cooking at home more often

  • strength training a few times a week

  • improving sleep gradually

  • drinking more water

  • reducing alcohol slowly

  • learning how to regulate stress

  • being “pretty good” most of the time

Not dramatic.
Not sexy.
Not viral.

But incredibly effective over time.

This approach doesn’t usually give a “before and after in 14 days”.

What it does give is:

  • stable energy

  • better moods

  • improved blood sugar

  • reduced cravings

  • better digestion

  • strength

  • confidence

  • health habits you can actually maintain

This is the difference between chasing results… and building a life.

Fast + Sustainable

…it usually isn’t easy.

This is where serious transformation happens — but it requires effort, structure and consistency.

Sometimes there are seasons where people want to push harder:

  • training for an event

  • recovering health markers

  • preparing for surgery

  • addressing obesity-related health concerns

  • rebuilding after years of neglect

You can achieve meaningful change faster.

But there’s usually a cost:

  • more planning

  • more discipline

  • more discomfort

  • more time

  • more intentionality

This isn’t punishment.
It’s just reality.

Big outcomes generally require a bigger temporary investment.

The Problem With Modern Health Culture

Most people are constantly being sold the idea that they should be able to have all 3:

  • fast results

  • easy effort

  • sustainable outcomes

That’s the fantasy.

And when reality doesn’t match the promise, people blame themselves instead of questioning the method.

The truth is:
Healthy bodies are usually built through repeated ordinary choices.

Not punishment.
Not perfection.
Not hacks.

Just enough good habits, repeated long enough, to change the direction of your life.

So… Which Two Matter Most To You Right Now?

That’s the real question.

Because your answer might change depending on your season of life.

A busy mum with three kids and no sleep may need:

Easy + Sustainable

Someone preparing for a medical procedure may temporarily prioritise:

Fast + Sustainable

But trying to force:

Fast + Easy

…usually ends in frustration.

Real Health Is Less Glamorous Than The Internet Makes It Look

It’s often:

  • meal prepping when you can be bothered

  • going for the walk even when it’s cold

  • eating protein before attacking the snack cupboard

  • lifting weights you didn’t think you could

  • sleeping instead of doom-scrolling

  • doing the boring things long enough for them to work

That’s the stuff that changes people.

Not because it’s extreme.
Because it’s repeatable.

And repeatable behaviours are what create lasting results.
